The Sweetest Valentine's

Remember back in the day....long ago before you had kids? Chances are Valentines meant that you got all dressed up, went to a crowded restaurant and paid and exorbitant amount for a meal. Now, it may mean....lining up a babysitter, getting 1/2 way dressed up and going anywhere you can that allows you to have an uninterrupted meal....that chances are....still cost way too much. Some couples have even sworn off doing anything for Valentines because it's "too much work with kids."

Why give up on the true meaning of Valentine's Day just because you have kids? Why not just change it up a little bit and use the day to truly celebrate those you love. That's exactly what we did last night. Me, Shawn and the kids had our own private candlelight dinner.

Complete with a red table cloth

Candles and a Flower

The kids eating on "adult plates"

K-LOVE playing softly in the background

Milk and Apple Juice in fancy glasses

Wonderful atmosphere

and Valentine brownies for dessert.

The kids proclaimed that they LOVED Valentine's Day.....and wanted to do a "candle dinner" every night!!

The best part was that the only thing I purchased was balloons and a red table cloths for $3 at the dollar tree and the memories it created were ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!

Lollipop Valentine

I showed you these yummy little snack bags I made for Gauge's preschool Valentine's party.
Now it's time for Gracie's party. For her, I made easy adorable photo lollipop Valentine's. To make these, you'll need:

A cutting board, fine pointed knife, and a pointed shish kabob stick

A bag of lollipops

and a picture of your child hold their hand out like they're holding an invisible lollipop.

I used the knife to start a small hole above and below her hand in the picture. Then take the pointed stick to push it all the way through. Thread the lollipop stick through....

grace pics

and you get a stack of adorable, inexpensive, original Valentine's.

Grace is so excited to hand these to all her friends in Kindergarten tomorrow!

Thank you Alissa for the great idea!

Today......is the 5th anniversary of my Mamaw's passing. She was the Mother of 5, grandmother of 10, if she were living....would be the great-grandmother of 6 (and more on the way)...and literally a friend to everyone. There is one moment in particular that I will never forget. When I was a child she and I were together. Somewhere during that day, she came across the garbage man. She spoke to him like a friend. Not like he was someone less than her. I don't believe that she ever met a stranger....and never looked down at or was demeaning to anyone. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off your back if you needed it. She has left a huge legacy for those of us who loved and cherished her. So it has me thinking today about my legacy. What am I passing down to my children?

You have heard the old saying "actions speak louder than words." Our kids most certainly learn by example. Am I exhibiting the kinds of actions and behaviors I want them to have? Am I showing love to those around me? Do I give of myself for the benefit of others? Do I have the Fruits of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control? What will my legacy be?

As I go throughout my daily life I try to remember that Grace and Gauge are watching me, and listening to me. What are they seeing, what are they hearing. Do they see their Mommy being positive, happy, loving, gracious, humble, patient, caring, giving, thoughtful, fun - - all the things I want to be. Don't get me wrong.....there are days when I fail miserably. But my prayer is that the days I succeed greater outweigh the ones that I didn't.

Be Mine!

Take some Pretzels, Chocolate, Heart Sprinkles and M&M's
Picnik collage
Melt the chocolate and pour it over the pretzels. Top with Sprinkles and M&M's

Make rods for the teachers

Break up the pretzels and put inside adorable little goodie bags.

Do this 30 times

Even though you're on a diet.....be sure to lick the bowl and spatula.

Sit back and enjoy the thought of 30 sweet preschoolers enjoying this yummy treat.

The best part is seeing the look on my little guy's face....knowing he gets to hand them out to all his buddies at his Valentine's party tomorrow!

{{Thank you Colette  for the awesome printable and treat idea!}}

Wow, Six......

I don't think that I could have ever imagined how many changes one number could bring.
{6} took to you Kindergarten
{6} brought a new found love of salad
{6} allowed you to learn how to whistle
{6} has you reading entire books with very little help.
Reading collage
{6} and tying your shoes all by yourself

{6} has blossomed you from Mommy's baby girl to my little lady.....so full of life, and love of learning.
You're a lover of all things art and music. You're tender hearted and kind. You're a snuggle bug and a silly heart. You're a Mother Hen to you little brother and you enjoy teaching him his letters, numbers and so much more.
And.......I am absolutely blessed to call you daughter and friend!
I love you Gracie!!!

In my basement sits a beautiful lonely changing table that is no longer needed. I will not get rid of it because of the sentimental place it hold in my heart. But, what can you do with it? For sometime now, I've needed to do something to better organize my Scentsy inventory. So.....I decided to give that beautiful changing table a new life.

What once held a chubby little baby during diaper changes.....now holds Scentsy Warmer boxes.

Where the wipes, lotions and powders once sat......now holds Scentsy testers full of lovely smells.

The bucket that once held teeny tiny baby socks and shoes.....now holds Scent Circles, Travel Tins, and Light Bulbs.

The tub that once held a colorful array of little onsies.....now holds a rainbow of
Scentsy Bars.

Just because something no longer serves it's original purpose.....doesn't mean it still can't be useful and loved!
