Perfect for busy moms!

Simplify......according to Webster means "to make simple or simpler" or "to reduce to basic essentials."

This word has been swirling around in my mind for quite some time now. I have been thinking about how it can be applied to my life. You may be saying "you only have 2 kids who are not currently in many don't even know what busy really means." But then my question back would be, "does life need to be that busy?" Do our children need to be enrolled in 3 different sports, 5 different extra curricular activities? But, it's not just about the kids. We as parents are busy too. We work full time jobs, volunteer to be room mom at our child's school, we're on the planning committee for this event or the fund-raising committee for that group. We hurry around busying ourselves with life whips past us so fast that we can't even remember what day of the week it is or the last time we washed our hair.

Do you remember a time recently when you lost electricity at your house. Like me, you probably went into a slight panic. What were you going to do all - night - long....... You can't watch tv, you can't get on the internet, it's going to be a long boring night. Right? Actually, it probably ended up being way better than you imagined. More likely than not, you ended up playing board games and reading books with your children by candlelight. They were probably tickled to get Mom & Dad's undivided attention. Attention that wasn't shared with the tv, computer, or telephone. In the end, you may look back on that night with fondness and wonder how you can recreate those simple magical moments.

What can we do to Simplify our lives? I don't believe that we have to get all crazy and permanently remove the television from our home or disconnect the internet. I do believe that as families we need to learn to create boundaries. I will be the first to admit that over time those boundaries have began to blur and I have lost my focus. So what can we do from this day forward to chart a new course for our families? Can we put time limits on the television or internet? Can we limit our children to one sport per season? Can we implement "Family Night" into our weekly routine? Can we be better at planning and organizing so our lives are less chaotic?  I would love for you to share your thoughts.

Jump Jump Jump

For Christmas this year, my sister-in-law got all the nieces and nephews gift cards to a new indoor trampoline place called Sky Zone.

Picnik collage

Last Sunday we all met there to have some jumping fun.

The kids had a great time, jumping up and down......side to side....and even off the walls.

Grace and Gauge love their cousins so much. They all had an AWESOME time together!

They jumped until they were all sweaty and red faced!

But there's always time to squeeze in some cuddles from Grandma :)

They were wore out at the end of the hour! They're already asking when they can go
back again :)

GOALS: Today, Tomorrow and Beyond

goals chalkboard

According to Edwin Louis Cole, "A dream doesn't become a goal until it is written.
" So with that in mind I decided to create a post for my goals. This list will be a Hodge Podge of things that I would like to achieve. They're listed in no particular order. They range from day to day goals all the way to lifetime goals.  Personal goals to family goals. As with life, it will continue to grow and evolve. My hope is that by documenting them, they'll continually be here to remind me and keep me on course.

Sweet Innocence

My conversation with my sweet Gauge (3 ½ year old) as we drove home from work/school.

Gauge: Mom, how do tires break?
Me: They can break for many reasons. You can drive over something pokey in the road. If you drive crazy (meaning running over curbs, etc), sometimes they can pop and break.
Gauge: I want to drive cwazy!
Me: We can't honey, we'll break our tires
Gauge: We can just get new ones.
Me: New tires cost a lot of money sweetie.
Gauge: BUT, I DO have lots of my Piggy Bank!!

Oh the simplicity of a child's life. How sweet it is
