I know that it's really pathetic that my husband and I consider a trip to the neighboring town to get groceries...our date night. We don't get alone time very often. If that means we get Mama and Papaw to watch the kids so we can get groceries in peace...then it's a date baby! LOL :)
It can be a bit overwhelming and frustrating to go grocery shopping with a large amount of coupons. You have to make sure you are buying the correct size, the correct number, the correct brand. Usually I just figure out what I'm going to buy and take the corresponding coupons.
Last night was the first time that I took my big 3 ring coupon binder to the store with me. It was great, because I was able to find items that were either cheap to begin with or that were on sale and just not advertise in their sales flyer. Here are some examples of those kind of items.
Select Kraft Dresssing - On sale for 1.58.
I had a coupon for $1.00 off 1. Final price = $.58/each
Quaker Rice Cake - $1.77
I had a coupon for $.50 (doubles). Final price = $.77/each
Box of Capri Sun - $1.97
I had a $1 off coupon. Final price = $.97/each
Tabasco Sauce - $1.18
I had $.50 coupon (doubles). Final price = $.18/each
Barilla Mini Pasta - $1.29
I had a $.50 coupon (doubles). Final price = $.29/each
Bird's Eye Steamers - $1.58
I had a $.50 coupon (doubles). Final price = $.58/each
White Cloud 4 packs toilet paper - $1.36
I had a $.50 coupon (doubles). Final price = $.36/each
None of these items were in the sales flier. I would not have been prepared to get them on sale if I didn't take my coupon book with me. So, long story short. From now on, my handy dandy little coupon binder will be going to the store with me!

I am still totally impressed by the people who can do this couponing thing. I think it would stress me out. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree - anytime you can get away without kids is a definite date!
The wife is a coupon queen, and will not even go near a grocery store without her book. Now she will not even go to Wal-Mart without once she figured out they had better prices than the local grocery stores on some of the things.
