Perfect for busy moms!

Life has been pretty uneventful lately and I'm not complaining. So I really don't have much to write about other than just some random thoughts.

A week ago I started to think...I really need to get busy figuring out what the kids are going to be for Halloween. Grace said that she wanted to be a ballerina and wear a pretty tutu. I found an adorable one on Etsy but wasn't really sure I wanted to spend the money. Then I got to thinking...I have her peacock costume from two years ago hanging in her closet still! I thought about listing it on eBay...but again, didn't really want to spend the money on listing fees. I decided to give Craigslist a try. It's free and who knows, maybe I'll get lucky. Well about a week goes by with nothing, not one email. Then last night I got a message from a lady in New Philadelphia, Ohio who seemed really interested. She asked if I would consider mailing it to her if she paid by paypal. Of course I said yes!!! So as soon as that money hit my paypal account, you better believe I was on Etsy buying my baby girl the cutest tutu ever! Now I just need to find a leotard top and some cute shoes and we'll be in business. In case you're wondering about Gauge, I found him a costume at Once Upon a Child last week. I wanted to put something on him that would not only be comfortable but warm. So I found him a cute little Race Car Driver Jumpsuit.

The Dentist

I know that I am not a professional, but I'm pretty sure the role of a Dental Hygienist is not to torture until you bleed but to clean your teeth! I had my semi-annual dental appointment this morning. I came out feeling like she not only cleaned my teeth, but poked multiple holes in my gums in the process. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I thought I know what my poor little gums could use right now! A hot vanilla Latte from Sames & Cook! Ahhhh, shear bliss!

Firemen As I was pulling back into the church parking lot after my torture session at the dentist, I noticed that our local Fire Engine was in the parking lot. I knew they were coming, but I thought I would miss it for sure. I got here just in the nick of time to see my baby girl sitting up on the bumper. Once all the kids got their class picture taken on the fire engine, Gracie's teacher put her back on so I could snap a quick picture with my phone. Isn't she simply adorable!!!

Don't blink or you will miss it!

I am still a little bit in denial that my baby girl is in Pre-Kindergaten this year at school. It seems like only yesterday that she was this tiny little baby with the head full of black hair. Now she is such a big girl.
There are so many things that I love about her!

She is funny:
We usually listen to K-LOVE in the car on the way to school and usually very loud. Lately it has been fuzzy and we've had to shut it off. So yesterday, I said "Oh man, we're losing our channel again!" Gracie's response was "Oh man, I wanted to rock!!"

She is helpful:
She helps mommy get things for Gauge. She helps me feed him. She loves to help with the laundry. She helps feed our dog. She helps set the table for supper.

She is thoughtful:
She will sometimes color a picture for a friend at school. She prays for her brother. Lately at supper this is her prayer "God is good, God is great, thank you for our daily bread. Also please touch bubby's little finger and help him to stay away from the stairs so he doesn't get hurt. Amen"

The topic at school this week has been "About Me." Her project was to decorate a white paper sack and then fill it with some of their special possessions. She also had a paper she had to glue family pictures on. On Thursday it was her turn to get up in front of the class tell about her things and show everyone who is in her family. Her sweet teacher texted me this picture.

I am so blessed to have Grace in a school that teaches her the word of God. I am also blessed to know that they love her so much! When I received this picture on my phone I instantly teared up. As a mom you want the world to see and treat your child the way that you do...with love. And it's just awesome when you see it in action.

I work in our church office. Grace's classroom is just down the hall. Whenever her class walks by, her teacher lets her come in for a hug and a kiss. Like I said....I AM BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE!

I have a love hate relationship . . .

with Once Upon A Child! I hate that you can take some really nice clothes there to sell and they either won't take them or they don't give you very much for them. I love them because if you have the time to dedicate to sifting, you can find some really great deals.

I am not much of a garage sale person . . . yes I know that there are great finds to be had. I just cannot drag my behind out of bed that early in the morning on a Saturday. And forget the thought of taking two grumpy kids with me!

So my alternative for great deals . . .

1. Shop out of season on the clearance racks.

2. Children's Place outlet (with a coupon I find online combined with my 10% credit card).

3. Once Upon A Child.

I just got back from an excursion to the Westerville location with my mom and Grace. I found 3 shirts, 1 dress, 2 pair of jeans, and a pair of PJ's for Grace.

3 shirts, 3 pair of pants, 2 PJ's, and a Halloween Costume for Gauge.
All for . . . $65. I think that's a bargain considering most of it was Children's Place or Baby Gap. It's expensive to clothe our ever growing children. Might as well save a buck or two while we're at it right? How do you save money on your kids clothes?

My week in pictures

Life has been absolutely crazy this past week. There are so many things I could say, but I just don't have the time or energy.....Here is a summary of my week - in pictures.

Sunday afternoon, Mr. Hurricane Ike decided to visit us here in Ohio. With 75 mile an hour winds, many of us lost our electric. We were fortunate that our came back on at 10 pm the same night.

My mother/father in-law and brother/sister in-law (who all live next door) were not as fortunate. So our home doubled as the hotel Shipman providing hot showers, deep freezer storage and entertainment on t.v.

On Monday morning we let our little dog out to go potty and she was greeted by this little fella. Folks, believe me this is not what you want to deal with at 5:30 am on a Monday!!!

This is not our dog, but picture a white dog covered head to toe in tomato sauce!

This is what she looked like before her run in with the skunk.

And...once the tomato sauce was rinsed off, she slightly resembled this!!!!

On Wednesday morning, Shawn and I set off for our pre-planned trip to Amish Country. We stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast and enjoyed some quiet time together and shopping of course.

But, while we were gone.....HE struck again!!!

No, our little dog isn't the sharpest tool in the shed!

So, my poor in-laws were stuck giving the tomato bath this time!

I was off work Monday and Tuesday because the church didn't have electric. I was in Amish Country on Wednesday and Thursday. I only worked one day this week and this is how I felt!!!

So needless to say . . .

Where in the world

Where in the world have you been you say. I wish I could say that my hubby and I had run off on a very romantic vacation to Fiji. But the short answer is....I still do not have internet access! I have been feeling so completely disconnected (no pun intended) without it. I'm sure you read this post about how my computer was hijacked. To top it all of, my computer at work was having problems and I haven't had internet access there either.
Well, as of yesterday we finally have our computer home, but the internet itself isn't working. Why? because our internet service provider (just a small town guy) doesn't answer his phone on the weekends. Anywho...I have so much to catch up on. I am borrowing my brother-in-law's laptop.

So here is what we have been up to for the past few weeks.

The last week of August was our county fair.

Gauge getting his first look at the cute little baby goats.
Gracie loved feeding hay to all the animals.
Hello there beautiful!
Riding in the cars. Purple of course!
Daddy and Gracie on the carousel
We took another trip to the zoo

Spent some time outside soaking up the last days of summer!

And of course the start of Buckeye Football Season!!!

Popular Party!

When I was deciding on a theme for Gauge's first birthday party, I had no idea how popular it was. He is a very active little guy and from the beginning I have called him "My Little Monkey." So it seemed only fitting to do a monkey party.

It's so fun to see how many people make their way to my site by Googling "Monkey Party."

If you missed the highlights, you can see it HERE, HERE, AND HERE :)

And......Because of Gauge's adorable little Monkey Party.......
I have been featured!!! Woo-Hoo !!!!

Oh, my sweet little baby girl . . .

Isn't so little anymore. Today was Grace's first day of Pre-Kindergarten. She is so excited to be in Mrs. Linda's class.

Mommy had to get a picture of her in front of the doors to school.
Getting in some play time before heading upstairs to her classroom.
Mrs. Linda's room

Such a bitter sweet day.

I am so blessed to work in the same building where my children go to school. On her way downstairs for lunch, Gracie stopped in my office for a quick little hug. I love that I am able to be here for them whenever they need me.
