Memories for Sale

I feel like I am selling my memories. Garage Sales are very sad events for me. I just have such a hard time letting go of the sweet little outfits that my babies wore. Going through the tubs of clothing in our basement has been like taking a trip down memory lane. I remember the exact day that Grace wore her Gymboree polka dot dress with matching hat, shoes and sunglasses....It was my first mother's day. I remember when Gauge wore his tiny little newborn outfit with monkeys on the front. He was having such a hard time fitting into his 0-3 clothing that we had to run out and buy him some newborn stuff. It makes me laugh now because at one year he is in the 90% for height, weight, and head size. He's my big boy ;)

My husband doesn't quite understand how I can be so sentimental towards clothing. He isn't a pack rat like me, so he doesn't understand hanging onto things that we'll never use again

I know that I shouldn't, but I get so caught up on the amount things cost.
Not that I'm the one who bought them. They were given to us as gifts from loving family members. Shawn did make me feel better by saying "Honey, just think of the mom who comes to our sale and gets to buy these clothes at good prices...when she may normally never be able to afford something like this." That gave me the kick in the pants that I needed. The memories I hold of my children are not tied to "things" but to the the wonderful memories that I'll be able to play over and over again in my mind.

Country Living

I love living out in the country!
When I woke up one morning last week, this is who greeted me out in our field.

Aren't they the sweetest little things.

Lazy Weekend

My favorite kind of weekend is one that involves very few plans. We didn't have anywhere we needed to go so we just got to do as we pleased. Which means, I really don't have much to write I'll just share some random pictures :)

On Saturday morning Gauge and Grace were playing in her bedroom. Gauge came out sporting his 1980's headbands.

I feel like Olivia Newton John's "Physical" should be playing in the background :)
We also went school supply shopping for Grace. She starts Pre-Kindergarten on September 3rd. My baby girl is growing up way too fast.
On Saturday night we babysat for our best friends so they could go out for their anniversary. Here are the girls being goofy.

Next week is our County Fair and we are all really looking forward to that.

Weekend in Review

Absolutely Beautiful Weekend!

On Saturday, we went to my cousin Mandy's wedding. Her ceremony was outside at Candlewood overlooking the lake. This is the gated community we lived in before we built our current house. As we drove past our old home, we asked Grace is she remember living there. She didn't! It's sad to think that the home she was born in and lived for the first 3 years of her life...she'll never remember. It was a cute little starter home, but I'm so glad that we made the leap of faith and sold when we did. We got out right before the housing market started to get really bad. As we drove around Candlewood on our way to the lodge we were amazed at how many houses are for sale...the same houses that were for sale when we moved out 15 months ago! We're in love with our current home and so thankful for it!!

The weather was absolutely beautiful! Here is Gauge being happy before the goldfish crackers ran out half way through the ceremony...and before he let out a really loud burp during a very quiet moment *grin*

Smile :-)

My new bloggie friend Shelly made an adorable sling for herself and told me that she would make me one too! How awesome is she! She's on vacation right now and won't be able to get to it for a few weeks. So... I thought...."what can I do in the mean time?" Some where in the dark recesses of my mind, I remember seeing somewhere that you can make a baby sling out of a bed sheet. So, I did what I always do when I need to find the answer to something. I Googled it of course! I found a video on YouTube of a lady demonstrating how to do it. And here is my finished product.

With sling in place and beautiful fall temperatures outside, we decided to take the kids on a hike at the State Park.

Time out for mommy to rest and a quick family pic. Grace has a worried look on her face, because she is sitting on moss :)

We found our way out of the woods! Let's go up town and get some ice-cream!!

Weekend in Review

We packed a ton of fun into this weekend!
Friday night after work we went down to Dublin for The Dublin Irish Festival. Despite the heat, we had a great time eating good food, listening to Irish music and playing with the kids in the Wee Folk area.

Now this is a way better view than in my stroller!
We waited in line for about an hour for Grace to do this. I was so proud of her for being so brave!

On Saturday, the men went to the Super Bike races at Mid-Ohio. So my mom, my sister-in-law, and I took the kids to the FREE splash park in Powell. I have to say I was a little disappointed in how little the kids wanted to play. Grace was more content squirting all the other kids with the water gun. Gauge was fine as long as mommy was holding him. I debated on taking my bathing suit....because....well I just hate wearing one. I'm glad I did, otherwise they wouldn't have even put their pinkie toes in the water.

I'm not so sure about all this water!!!
Gauge playing on the playground.

A "Real Train" went by while we were there. Sadly, I think that was the highlight of the trip for the kids.
After we left the park we took the kids to the mall. Gauge was in dire need of a new pair of tennis shoes. I wanted to go to Stride Rite because I know they make wide and extra wide shoes. I'm tellin' ya, this boy has some seriously fat little piggies. Stride Rite wanted $40-50 for a pair of shoes. You have got to be kidding me! I don't even spend that much on my own shoes and mine are done growing. So off we went to Penny's. They sell Stride Rite brand and I got a really cute pair for only $23. Now I just need to figure out a way to keep them tied.

To end our busy weekend, on Sunday we celebrated my nephew's 8th birthday with food, and more outdoor fun.

Whoo, I'm tired!!
