Recycled Chunky Crayons

Weekend Craft Project

What do you do with those chunky crayons that your kids think "they're too old to use now?" I borrowed an idea from Make and Take. Grace and I made recycled chunky crayons together.

First you peel all the paper off your crayons

Break them into pieces

Place the pieces into a muffin pan

Bake at 275 degrees for approx. 10 minutes or until melted.

Once the pan was cool to the touch, I popped them into the freezer until completely cooled. Pop them out of the pan.
Now you're ready to color!

  2. This is a fun idea I had forgotten about...my daughter once got a gift baggie of them on Valentine's Day...they were made with a heart shape tin.

    Thanks for the fun reminder!

  3. Yeah! I am so glad you tried the crayons. They turned out great. I keep collecting the stubs and am about ready to make some more. I have seen some others done with molds made of different shapes. I need to get my hands on those. Thanks for the link love.
