Trike-a-Thon Update

Gilead Christian Preschool Trike-a-Thon
May 16th, 2008

The day started out pretty gloomy with threats of rain. The preschool teachers had everything set up in the parking lot with high hopes of the sky's clearing and good weather.

That was not to be the rained causing them to go to
plan B.

The kids were disappointed, because plan B doesn't involve tricycles. Instead they ran around an obstacle course set up in the gym. I was even more bummed by the fact that my digital camera takes HORRIBLE pictures inside! I had to resort to using my cell phone which does a terrible job catching action shots. Thus, my very blurry recap of the Trike-a-Thon.

Gracie holding up her number.

Running across the hula hoops.

Over the hurdles

Go girls!!!!

Refreshments with friends
Smile for mommy :)
All in all, it was a fun event and the Preschool teachers did an AWESOME job as always!

Random Act of Kindness

Over the weekend we went to our local Electric Co-Operative's annual picnic. A sweet little old lady gave me this handmade bib for Gauge. Her daughter told me that she likes to carry them with her so that whenever she sees a little baby she can give them a bib. It is an adorable hand stitched bib! Very Thoughtful!

Have you ever been on the giving or receiving end of a
"Random Act of Kindness?"

Recycled Chunky Crayons

Weekend Craft Project

What do you do with those chunky crayons that your kids think "they're too old to use now?" I borrowed an idea from Make and Take. Grace and I made recycled chunky crayons together.

First you peel all the paper off your crayons

Break them into pieces

Place the pieces into a muffin pan

Bake at 275 degrees for approx. 10 minutes or until melted.

Once the pan was cool to the touch, I popped them into the freezer until completely cooled. Pop them out of the pan.
Now you're ready to color!

Friday Flashback!

What a difference 9 months makes!
When Gauge was a newborn he screamed so hard when he took his baths. It stressed me out so much. I don't think that I gave him a bath by myself until he was 3 months old. Sad but true.

Now he loves his bath.....especially when his sister takes one with him. They splash and giggle so much. What a joy to watch!

Today is also the BIG Trike-a-Thon at school. It should be lots of fun. I will post pictures this weekend.

Weekend in Review

We had a busy weekend.....

We started off our weekend by celebrating "Friday Family Night" and baking brownies. Shawn also gave me my Mother's Day presents early. He bought me perfume and some other wonderful things. Love ya babe <3

On Saturday, we went in town for Mt.Gilead's Spring Arts Festival.

I love this picture of my dad with Gauge by the fountain.
Grace had her favorite food in the entire world......a hot dog!!
After the Art's festival we rode to Marion with my mom and dad. We stopped at Lowe's and then ate supper at Bob Evan's. Poor little Gauge was so tired, he laid his little head on the table.

Just on a completely random brother-in-law/neighbor had a cow in his front yard on Sunday afternoon. Gotta love when the neighbor's cows get lose. It felt like one of those jokes that starts off "You know you're in Morrow County, when....."

Sunday afternoon, we had supper at The Spaghetti Warehouse. Fourteen of us gathered together to celebrate my Aunt Pam's graduation with a Master's Degree. Congratulations and we love you Pam!! Here is a picture of my Aunt Pam and Gracie.

Picture of my Cousin Mandy with Gauge
Gauge was very tired from his long weekend. He crashed before we were even out of downtown Columbus.

Friday Flashback!

August 2004
Red River Gorge, Kentucky
When I was 5 months pregnant with Grace we went on a road trip to The Red River Gorge in Kentucky. We loaded up Shawn's Jeep Wrangler and drove the 4.5 hours to Kentucky. Our dog Nolah was just a little 3 month old pup at the time. It was absolutely amazing down there. I have to say it was one of the most breath taking places I have ever been. One of the days, we went on an all day hike. It was tiring but so much fun. In a couple of the pictures you can see me wearing my an ultra sexy camelback. You don't want a pregnant girl getting dehydrated. :) I particularly love the picture of Shawn holding Nolah. She was a trooper on the trails. I think she had more energy than we did. At the end of the hike, Shawn picked her up and she fell asleep in his arms.

What exactly would you call it....
Two months ago, before Gauge began crawling and pulling himself up on every piece of furniture we own, I would have called my style Primitive Country. Now, it's more like Minimalistic Baby Proof! It seems as if there isn't a day that goes by that we aren't relocating something to the basement. Now the main focus of our living room is an Intellitainer, and a basket of baby toys...and I wouldn't change it for anything.
I love this stage and I despise it all at the same time. I love the look of pride on his face when he accomplishes something new. I despise the worry. I worry he's going to fall and crack his head, poke his eye, or something worse.

He is fearless, he is daring

He is my little monkey!!

Grace caught her 1st fish....sort of!

Grace went fishing in the pond with daddy on Sunday. Bless her little heart....she didn't even get one nibble. So Uncle Keith and daddy devised a very sly plan. Daddy would catch a fish, put it on Grace's Barbie fishing pole, and let her real it in. Luckily Aunt Kristyn had her camera phone (that's why it's so grainy) to catch the action play by play.

I'm in mourning!

Grace - 2 Days old

Gauge - 1 Day old
I am in mourning....for the days when I got to rock a baby to sleep.
There is nothing more sweet, more fulfilling than snuggling with your babies, and rocking them to sleep at night.
From day one, Grace was a snuggle bug. At three years old, she still loves to crawl in my lap and "love on mommy." On Tuesday Gauge turned 9 months old. He has decided that he is way too busy to lay still and let mommy rock him to sleep at night. When I want nothing more than to have him snuggle up to me while I rock him to sleep, he wrestles me like an alligator! Now, in order to get him to sleep, we have to lay him in his bed and pat his bottom until he falls asleep. We are done having kids, and it makes me so sad to think that the days of rocking my babies to sleep at night are over!

Nolah Bean's First Birthday
Posing with her birthday cake

Getting her first taste of surgery goodness!

This is the best thing I have ever tasted!!!
I'm not going to let one morsel hit the ground!
A little history on our Nolah Bean.
It was the summer of 2005. We had just moved into our first house and I was pregnant with our first baby. We didn't think we had enough stress in our lives *wink, wink* so we decided that we were going to get a puppy.

I have been allergic to dogs my entire life, but I love them very much. We decided that we would get a poodle mix~because they're hypoallergenic. We scoured the local newspapers in search of our new addition to the family. We finally found an ad in the Mansfield News Journal for a female peek-a-poo puppy. As it turns out, we had a wedding up there that weekend. We gave them a call and asked if we could stop by and look at her before we went to the wedding and they said yes.

Shawn and I showed up at this filthy, stinky apartment to look at our future puppy. It was one of those places that made you feel dirty the second you walked in the door. The dog parents that were laying on the couch were absolutely hideous looking. I just couldn't picture their puppies looking very cute. And then....out came the sweetest little puppy you had ever seen. Needless to say, that as soon as the wedding was over we went and rescued her from her horrible home life :) When we got home, we went through a baby name book to find a name for her. We came up with Nolah. Over time she has gotten many more nicknames: Nolah Bear, Nolah Bean, Beaner, Beanie!
She's our little sweetie and I wouldn't trade her for anything (even on the days that she drives us nuts)!
